BUT i think it’s also important to consider how far just asking someone to think about what they’ve done will get

reading the event pages for the Protest Against Kappa Sigma party and in the DSG/ASA Open Discussion page is so fucking emotionally painful and draining.

the amount of not only white students, but other PoC, especially Asian Americans, coming to the defense of the fraternity is so troubling. even some of the people who are condemning their actions add in how some students who are angry over this whole thing are “overreacting” and are “butthurt”. just fucking stop it. if you’re not with us, then you’re against us, and for that you can take a fucking seat and shut up.

fuck you for belittling and mocking my people, then having the audacity to tell us to calm down when we speak out against your racist bullshit.

It’s not ok but the reason it CAN be separated on one hand is because Asians are largely ignorant to the maliciousness of how Whites do it, with the same background mentality and history of actually LYNCHING black people. So if you look at specifics it IS different. HOWEVER it does perpetuate negative connotations so it shouldnt continue.

Also, black people seem to be good at defending themselves. Maybe some of you Asians should worry less for their cause and focus on your own racism you recieve as Asians? Like how come none of you are addressing the blatant racism from blacks towards Asians? No one talking about Rihanna and her little rice cracker joke towards Karruche Tran? Or Lauryn Hill’s lyrics talking trash about Asians?That show Greys Anatomy watched by so many Asians that have an Asian chick working in a hospital in a lower position than all these higher upper black people fking a black boyfriend as he talks down to her patronizingly as if shes stupid half the time?(show written by a black person). if you think none of us call out shit that hurts our communities no matter who it comes from, you’re wrong. but just because we have our own stuff to deal with doesn’t mean we can’t come to the defense of other PoC when something hurts them, especially when it’s coming from our own people. i’d want fellow PoC to come to my defense when people are racist towards Asians, so i’m gonna do the same to them and i don’t understand why you think we shouldn’t.

:| i’m disappointed too. it’s really ridiculous how so many POC think they’re exempt from being racist just because they’re POC. growing up in a diverse neighborhood doesn’t mean you’re somehow incapable of being racist/saying racist/problematic things. this summer, i dealt with a fellow Asian American girl who could not get it through her damn mind when people tried telling her why “jungle fever” is not ok, and scoffed accusations of racism because she “grew up in the projects” or some shit and because she’s dated a guy from every race so she caaaaan’t be racist.

i don’t see how it’s a joke when it’s at the expense of black women. anti-blackness is not something to laugh about. fuck that.
